Roy Apps is the author of fifty four children’s books, including The Twitches, Time Spinner and the hugely popular How To Handle… series. His latest books are The Fang Gang series for Bloomsbury and Crime Files for Franklin Watts. His sports series Dream to Win was launched in September 2008.Roy’s novel The Secret Summer of Daniel Lyons won The Writers’ Guild Children’s Book Award and was shortlisted for the Whitbread Awards. Roy also writes for radio, theatre and TV. In 2001 he was awarded a BAFTA for his children’s TV work, which includes Byker Grove and The Ghost Hunter.
His school musicals, all based on his books, are: Time Spinner, The Fang Gang, and The Hunt For William Shakespeare which premiered in July 2008.
He joined the NAWE/Paul Hamlyn ‘Writing Together’ Research Project in 2006 and has been Writer in Residence with the Museum of Canterbury, Opera House Music Projects and The National Gallery. His most popular events for schools are:
